The Five Kingdoms

After many many years of arguing over it—and the arguments are not over—scientists have divided all living organisms into five large groups, called kingdoms.

Each kingdom is then divided into smaller groups, which are then divided again and again until we get to individual organisms, like monkeys and apple trees and amoebas.

It is funny that the largest groups—kingdoms—are based on the smallest part of an organism: its cells.
