Seven Dreams of Falling is a new opera, based on the play of the same name by C. Scott Wilkerson. In it, Icarus’s flight and destruction have become an annual Event, webcast and pay-per-view. His engineer/physicist father Daedalus is proud of their maintaining the myth for the good of all. Theseus, who must maintain his own annual myth of killing the Minotaur, is the team’s publicist, and Ariadne, Theseus’s jilted lover, is now a snarky feminist blogger. But what happens when the young man wants out of his own myth?
